This is a business forum for people who run shops. The rules are strict on purpose: a voice here is worth weighing only if it is one shop, firsthand, and honest about what it sells. Agreeing to these rules is required to post.
One account per person, and your account speaks for your shop. No alternate accounts, no sockpuppets, no shared logins. A second account found speaking for the same shop gets merged or removed — and tagged either way.
Use your real name and your real shop. Impersonating a person, a shop, or this site ends the account.
Vendors have a place here — and advertisement doesn't. If you sell it, your account carries the vendor label. Selling belongs outside the discussions, in the paid spaces. And a vendor's word on their own product carries no weight here; shops' reported outcomes do. If it touches what you sell, sit it out or label it.
Post experience you actually have. Passing off copied, bought, or AI-generated text as your own shop experience is fraud against every member who weighs your words — it is the fastest way out of this forum.
Say what's a result, what's an opinion, and what's a guess. Attach the document when you have one — code text, safety data sheet, spec sheet. Code and safety claims get checked against the document, not against confidence.
Argue the claim, never the person. No harassment, threats, slurs, or pile-ons. If a post needs an insult to stand, it doesn't stand.
No politics, no religion fights, no spam, no chain posts, no affiliate links, no off-topic noise in the work rooms. This is a working forum for people who run shops.
No posting customers' names, addresses, contracts, or job photos without their permission. No harvesting member emails or contacts, no scraping the forum, no soliciting members by direct message.
Post your own prices, margins, and hard lessons freely; that's what the Business & Pricing room is for. Using the forum to fix prices or divide work with competitors is prohibited, full stop.
Advice that would put a person, a building, or the public at risk gets tagged on sight. Not sure a practice is safe or legal? Post it as a question, never as a method.
Violations are labeled where they stand, and the ladder is public: tag, warning, suspension, removal. Spam, scams, and illegal content are the exception — those come down outright. Any removal can be appealed once, in the open.
You keep ownership of what you post and grant Journeymen the right to display it. Posts are members' experience, not professional advice — and on any code question, the authority having jurisdiction has the last word.
Reading is open to everyone. To post, sign in — you'll agree to these rules as part of signing up.
